Okay, I don't live in Seattle, but the title is still catchy...
So this is something I have been struggling with myself recently. I have not been able to fall asleep, get comfortable, or stay asleep. My restless legs and anxiety DO NOT mix well. So I have been trying a few different strategies to fix this problem that can be beyond frustrating.
1. Do busy work before bed.
-For me this means, cleaning makeup brushes, cleaning my room, clean out my purse, etc. Things you can do while your brain can be else wear. Get those thoughts out of your head so you're not laying in my bed thinking for 4 hours.
2. Take a shower/Bath.
-Now this is a simple one. Run a hot shower, dim the lights if you can and just be calm. Again this gives time for your brain to settle, helping you fall asleep sooner.
3.Turn the stupid phone off.
-Now this is hard for me. I will go on it to check emails or blog stuff and all of a sudden I'm two years deep on instagram of some person in Iowa. Lie seriously. I would recommend Putting it up half hour or more before bed, and leave it plugged in somewhere that you can't just roll over in bed and turn it on.
-I know, I know. Im probably just as lazy, or even lazier than the average person. Nothing is more ideal than cuddling on the couch with a cute winter movie, but some times you just got to get up and move to burn off that energy. I hate running, so I usually Dance and just jump around, sometime I even move furniture. This helps with the jump feet/ Restless legs.
5. Read a book before bed.
-Whether its a boring novel, or a children's book. Pick something up and read a few pages. I find this to do a great job of winding me down in the evening.
