Freshman year of college is one of the weirdest yet most exhilarating times in your life. You get the little taste of freedom, and lessons learned all while still being, well, the baby.
1. You're so stinking young. Though you feel all grown up and independent, there is still so much time to decide how you want to spend your life, and who to spend your life with. Nothing is set in stone. I see so many people my age, and double my age working their tails off. 2. Hard-work is NOT optional. Elementary school prepped you for middle school, middle school prepped you for high school, high school prepped you (Or tried to) for college, college is prepping you how to learn, how to work your rear end off and do something for you and not because Its a handout or required my the government. 3-High School was NOT what is was all cracked up to be. Once I graduated and encountered real people doing real things you realize how petty a lot of high school relationships are. High School is a hormonal mess of burned hair, tight clothes and mom and dad's gas money. 4. CHILL OUT You often get hung up on the idea of having to be perfect, and all your grades need to be top notch. And for some people thats fine. Its not for me. My sanity is my priority over staying up until the sunrise completing random extra assignments that aren't going to help you anyway. So chill out, carve out special time in a day on the weekend to get as much work as you can before losing your mind. You can probably get more done than you actually think. 5. Music is a friend. One of my survival tips would to be create or find a few different playlists. I like to have a chill one for evenings or morning for doing homework, and a jam out one to listen to on the way to school and and on the way home to keep in a good mood. 6. Shower Self explanatory kids. 7. Get a hobby In college you are constantly being told what do, even if you are in your major. On top of that you're probably working which can be a drag. Find something that can be your release, whether thats writing, running a blog, learning to play tennis, or video games. Find something that allows you to relax and not think about that essay that is due in 5 days and 14 hours. 8. NOT. EVERYONE. AGREES. WITH. YOU. AND THATS OKAY. Our life purpose is not to hate everyone for having opinions. Now if you have seen my facebook you know I can be pretty opinionated, but Its pretty obvious so many people disagree with me. Even professors, scratch that. ESPECIALLY professors. Better learn now to suck it up and get over it. (But don't lose your opinion somewhere in the mess) 9. Rethink playing hookie. "Wait.. you mean you actually have to show up to learn and do well in the class?!" Surprise!!! 10. Trust God. Because through it all, your just as defenseless as the kid next to you. You will make it out, have faith, and pray. Isaiah 41:10 "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. "
