Anxiety is one of those things that you don't see coming until you are sitting there, your brain is spinning over the millions things you have to do, yet you can't manage to get up and do them. You feel like everything you do is not good enough and i like to compare anxiety to when you're trying to say something important and you know what you have to say yet overtime you begin to talk you get cut off, again and again and you're eyes are wide and your heart is racing and nothing is going your way.
What i have done here is compiled a list of a few different ways that I find to help with these anxiety attacks or episodes. 1. Shower. Cleaning off the day is soothing and relaxing. I like to dim the lights and shower in silence. Not even soft music can cut it. Too much competing with my brain. 2.Pray ultimately God is walking with you always and he is there for you. Reach out to him. 3. Clean your room and organize something. Having a clean and organized area to be in feels lighter and more put together while your brain is doing loops of craziness. 4.Eat a snack. You have two choices for this one. I like to go for a healthy snack (Popcorn, vegetables, etc) Because usually eating bad is an added source of anxiety to my day. But then again, it doesn't get much better than a bowl of ice cream or a couple pieces of chocolate. 5.Be creative. Whether its painting or drawing or designing, or writing get those crazy thoughts out of your head and onto another surface. For example, Im writing this to help clear my head. 6.Water. Drinking water is the best thing for a person. 7. Make a list. If you are overwhelmed by everything going on in your life, sometimes just writing a to do list really helps smooth things out and gets your brain in check. I hope these may help you, and if you have some other ideas or other tricks that work for you, leave them in the comments to help someone out. People always talk about how happy sunny days make them. and how rainy days are dreary. For me it is the complete opposite. Waking up to rain hitting the window and the room nice and dark and cool. Everyone is more relaxed and you smell the earth when you walk outside. There is so much beauty in clouds finally giving way to what they've been holding.
Today is the kind of day where I want to light a few candles, put my hair up and read a book, or learn something that has nothing to do with my life. There is no major reason behind this post other than for me to look back and remember how beautiful today was. I often catch myself wishing for whatever is next. The next best thing, the next adventure, the next holiday the next season, etc. But God has made a beautiful day in front of me, and I chose to look over it at the other ones to come.
In middle school, I could wait for high school, In high school I couldn't wait for my license, from my license, I wanted to graduate. Now that I'm graduated and in college, Im excited to move out into my own house. I haven't let my self hold on to each day as long as I can. For instance, Im sitting at a small Coffee & Tea Shop, in a small historically little city sipping bitter coffee and apricot scones before my next class. I had been waiting for this moment for years. Waiting for the independence and the brave enough taste buds to stomach the taste of coffee. Why not enjoy today, plan today and be in this day. And I can do it all again tomorrow when tomorrow comes. Because those days will come when they come, and theres no point worrying now. |
