College Commuter Guide: Community College Pros

On Monday I made a list of Cons that go along with Community college, So this post is in a way a response to that one. This will explain a few pros of Community college despite the cons.
Picture
Gas Money- All the money I spend in gas going back and forth to school will probably never add up to as much as the dorm costs for four years, possibly five years. So gas may be expensive but so is a dorm and I get to have my own room with my own bed, a free washer and dryer downstairs to use, plus a bathroom I share with my brothers not 6-46 other girls.

Lack of Social Experience- Now for two years you may miss out on the big college experience but first off you get to skip being a freshman on campus at a giant university where you are looked down on, second you get a couple years out of high school to take time to think about you and who you are. And as Cliche as it is Its so important to take some time where you get to do you and not worry about the three sports and knitting club and student governments and ballroom lessons and just do what you gotta get done and evaluate what you want to do and who you are.

Explaining Your Decision- Now Community college isn't the cool choice or even the popular choice but I have yet to talk to one person who told me they didn't agree with my decision. every person I explain it to tells me they wish they had done community college first, or they had done it too and loved that I had chosen that path.

Not That Different From High School-
Its a perfect transition because no level of college is like high school. At my orientation night one of the professors said high school was like a big strong cup of coffee. you sip it as you go along, sometimes its difficult to gulp down but you have time and no intense urgency. College, however, is a shot of espresso. All in one fast swig and then you're sent on your way to figure it out. I don't think the man could have summed it up better. So don't let people tell you community college is the easy route. Just because its not University of Michigan or Harvard doesnt mean its not tricky. Its difficult and great because Its the grown up version of high school but also a great jumping off point for a bigger university if you chose to go that route.

Bonus points:

Cost- If you go to community college you are saving thousands. So while your buddy going into the same degree as you, getting the same exact degree and same required classes they will be in debt for double the time because you took a more cost effective route.

The Professors- The professors are such a fun mix of people. You have the man who disagrees with every single one of your beliefs and then you have the professor who just moved from L.A and becomes your favorite professor because he isn't worried about ruining your life instead just worried about making you a better speaker.
