January Blahs are something I feel like a lot of people deal with. The rush of Christmas, New Years , and other holidays are over. And you're left in the cold cloudy days. January Blues is another term for this time of year, but I feel more blah than sad. Ya feel? During routine, and cold and bleak days, here are a few tips and tricks to overcome this time of year and its cloudiness.

1. Pray.
Spending time with God and reading the Bible to calm the negative thoughts. Pray to push through.

2. Laughter
Whether its a funny comedian DVD, a group of funny friends, or a stupid funny tv show on Netflix. Laughter is such a good medicine.  Finding a way to laugh is good for the soul.

3.Find something to look forward to!

Plan a small trip in mid February, get a fancy hair cut, spend the day exploring more around where you live, plan a vacation for summer! Something to look forward to keeps you distracted for the slow moving now. However don't get caught up in the future entirely...

4.Find the beauty of now. Despite the boring work and school schedule.
This time of year is slow. Its routine. Its gloomy. Its cold. But find the joy. Whether thats the 60 Degree Saturday that we just had, the smell of rain in January, or if you have snow, enjoy the pretty white stuff because It'll be gone in a few months.

5.Sunlight!
Expose yourself to as much sun as you can. Open your window even if its cloudy. Park in the back of the lot and walk to enjoy every ounce of light you can get. Its good for you!!!!!!

6.Music!
Whether its a new album, and old album you fall back in love with, or a cool playlist that just keeps you going. Something thats calming, exciting, or something that you just love for no reason and you listen to on repeat. Just enjoy music and the amazing distraction it can be.

7.Try a New Routine!!
Whether its working out, new diet plan, new outfit plan, a new way to do your makeup, a new way to get to work or school. Switch things up and embrace the change. Spice things up and roll with it.

8.Journal!
Track how you feel, and your days, and see if you can find what may be causing your negative mood or why you feel so dissatisfied and try to fix it. Plus in a few years it will be funny to look back and see how silly your problems seem, or how different things are.

9.Clean your room!
And keep it clean!! A clean room helps a cluttered mind and is so calming to be in. Let your room be your safe haven. Take care of it.

10. Ditch Bad habits.
Now don't go trying to tackle every bad habit you have. Your success rate will drop if you try to stop everything. But try to stop biting your nails, eating out of boredom, picking your nose, yelling obscenities at the person who cut you off. Make a mental note to put in effort to quit a bad habit.
