It's October. And my fellow Nanowrimos know that it is on.
Prepping and planning and prepping and honestly it is possible I love Prep-tober maybe even more than November.
And if you're lost, let me explain what all of this is, and then what prep-tober is.
So if you aren't sure what National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is, here is this from their website:
I have attempted NaNoWriMo for I believe, three years and won once. To win means you finished. You completed your 50,000 word novel by the end of November and you're a winner. 2018 was my first year winning and I'm excited to win again this year. The website is filled with tools, and to help you track your progress like local groups and the word count tracker and graphs that just help you really tackle this project. However beyond that you have what I'm talking about today, prep-tober.
Prep-tober takes place the month of October. and there's no real structure to this, it's just the people who actively participate in nano and how they each individually prepare for November. Everyone does it a little different. Last year I just wrote. I gave my self a small head start so when November came I had a general idea where the story was going, if anywhere. It worked well enough but one thing I live for is the planning. Not the perfectly organized, perfectly labeled planning. but the pinterest boards, and mood boards, and character profiles scribbled into my phone notes, and playlists. So this year I decided to reign all of that in and make a bullet journal. I will link a few youtube videos that inspired mine, but I'll show you what I've been doing in my bullet journal of sorts to help me plan for NaNoWriMo 2019. and also the current beginning working cover for the story.
My goal this year by the first day of November is to have 15,000 words. and now that could be argued by others who partake. that that isn't true nanowrimo, that I'm cheating but nano is whatever you make it. And for me, I know I am capable of winning if I give myself a few thousand word base so if something comes up and I miss a day or two in November, i will have those words to fall back on.
October is there to help you set yourself up to win. and this is what works for me.
Below I have linked my Pinterest mood board, My nano account, NaNoWrimo website, and any videos I used to make my journal.
Are you going to take on National Novel Writing Month?
