Phones. They're either always in your hand, on top of the toilet paper roll, next to your notebook, at your bedside, at dinner next to you fork, or even exploding....
First off I am not going to go bashing technology because I would be lying. Technology is an incredible advancement of our society and despite the some of its troubles, it brings some really great features to the table. Like communicating with family all over the world in an instant. Experiencing different cultures through snapchat and other social medias. Technology is so cool. But it also is addictive.
BUT with that said, its time to break up with you phone and fall in love with the world and people around you. Friend-zone it. Don't let it demand so much of your time that you miss out of different opportunities in your day to day life.
I have become so attached to my phone and everything about it. It goes with me to the bathroom, to class, to work, to dinner, to any thing in my day that requires my attention. It acts as a security blanket and a way for me to be antisocial. Which sometimes isn't a bad thing but we are missing out on so many experiences because of twitter, and snapchat, and that stupid game that I just cant seem to beet. You're missing the the seasons change, and the people walking by. Your missing on the chance to smile at a stranger because you're to busy laughing at the stupid gorilla meme for the eighth time.
So as a challenge to myself that I would love for you to join me on is to break up with your phone. Keep it on a just friends basis. Seriously Friend-zone that sucker and leave it when you go to the bathroom. Don't take it to bed, delete apps that take up your entire day. If you sit for a moment and look out the window and see the real colors of the leaves, or finally just turn the stupid thing off and take time to think about life, and people, and ways to exist outside of twitter and instagram
